Most of us are familiar with the basic tools in Word for creating simple documents such as letters and even basic reports. However, when it comes to writing essays, assignments, dissertations, and academic papers; there are a lot of very useful tools that should be used, but often don’t get used. This could be because the student doesn’t know how to use the tools, or sometimes it’s because the student doesn’t know they exist!

In this course, we’ll show you how to use an extensive range of tools and formatting options that will not only save you huge amounts of time but will also give your documents a professional ‘polished’ look; ready for submission. On completion of this course, you will be able to create documents that include table of contents, Indexes, citations and bibliographies, and much more.

The course content is divided into sections and topics. Each topic contains a video which will ‘walk’ you through that topic. After watching the video, you can download the associated document and have a go yourself.

We’ve also included useful tips and shortcut keys at the end of each topic.

A headset or earphones are ideal for watching the videos, which contain spoken audio and in some cases simply background music and text captions. In addition, where relevant you can enable Closed Captions with English subtitles (select the options button and then ‘cc’ ).
