As with other Windows applications, you can select several non-adjacent items in a list by clicking on the first then holding down the Ctrl key as you click the others; or you can select several adjacent items by selecting the top item then holding the Shift key as you click the bottom item (or vice versa). This video shows you how to do this in the File Explorer Window. Click on the full-screen icon  if required.
